AutoCAD Map 3D 2009
Citrix Readme
This Readme contains information about running AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 on Citrix
XenApp.
Deployment of AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 on Citrix XenApp requires careful planning
and execution. If you are not familiar with Citrix XenApp 4.5, you should
consult the Citrix XenApp Administrator’s Guide. You can find
information about AutoCAD Map 3D deployment and network administration in the AutoCAD
Map 3D 2009 Network Administrator's Guide. You can find information on
network licensing in the Autodesk Network Licensing Guide. You should
read all of these guides, as well as the AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 Readme and selected
white papers before you attempt to deploy and administer the program on Citrix
XenApp.

Licensing
For detailed information on network deployment and licensing, see the AutoCAD
Network Administrator's Guide and the Autodesk Network Licensing Guide.
The following are known licensing
limitations when running AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 on Citrix XenApp:
Windows Log-off
- If a user
logs off of Windows while an AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 application is still open
on the desktop, the application will be closed, but the user will not be
logged off of Map. The network license will not be checked in until all
open AutoCAD Map 3D applications are closed.
Task Manager
- Closing an
application running in an ICA client from the Task Manager may cause
licensing issues. For example, the Task Manager may close all instances of
the ICA clients on the computer, in which case the licenses that were
checked out of the Network Licensing Manager will not be returned
properly.
Installation Log Error
- The
following error may appear in your Installation Log: Install Windows Media
Format 9.5 Failed.
Performance
Limitations and Notes
The following are known feature limitations when running AutoCAD Map 3D 2009
on a Citrix XenApp. Please note that the scope of testing included only AutoCAD
Map 3D features, not all AutoCAD features.
Help
and Documentation
- The links to the PDF guides (Best Practices Guide,
Workflow Guide, Map Users Guide) in the Help pulldown do not
work. They work through the inline Help documentation links but not
directly from the Help pulldown.
Tooltips
- ToolTips and rollover ToolTips significantly impact
performance when running AutoCAD Map 3D on Citrix XenApp. We recommend
that you disable ToolTips and rollover ToolTips. To disable ToolTips and
rollover ToolTips, click Setup menu > AutoCAD Options. On the Display
tab of the Options dialog box, clear the checkmarks for Show ToolTips and
Show rollover ToolTips. You can also reset the TOOLTIPS and ROLLOVERTIPS
sysvars to 0 at the command line.
Dynamic Input
- Dynamic Input significantly impacts performance when
running AutoCAD Map 3D on Citrix XenApp. We recommend that you disable
Dynamic Input. To disable Dynamic Input, right-click the Dynamic Input
icon on the Map Status bar or enter DSETTINGS at the command prompt. On
the Dynamic Input tab of the Drafting Settings dialog box, clear the
checkmarks for Enable Pointer Input, Enable Dimension Input where
possible, and Show command prompting and command input near the
crosshairs. You can also hide the Dynamic Input icon by right clicking on
it and clearing the check next to Display > Dynamic Input.
Display
Issues
- If an end-users display is set to a different
resolution than the Citrix XenApp server, the end-user may see a warning
message. This warning message can be safely ignored. Click OK to continue
using the application.
- AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 does not support hardware
acceleration on the Citrix XenApp server.
- When working with DEM data in 3D mode, the Resample
Raster command does not work as expected. DEM data may not be regenerated
properly.
- Grip editing an endpoint on an FDO features may cause
the feature to disappear. You cannot complete the edit, and you must
regenerate your map to see the feature again.
- The hourglass cursor is often visible for no
discernable reason. This may cause confusion for end users.
Windows
Permission Issues
- Windows permissions issues may cause problems with User
Profiles and creating new coordinate systems.
